Vanya Francis
Vanya first learned about yoga in high school when her mother passed along a tattered pocket-sized yoga book from the 70s. This set her off on a journey that lasted over 10 years and led Vanya to complete her 200 hour Classical Hatha Yoga teacher's certification under the instruction of Swami Jaya Devi Bhagavati at Kashi Atlanta in June 2009. She launched Yoga with Vanya a few months later. Vanya believes yoga is not about flexibility of the body, but flexibility of the mind and enjoys teaching yoga to practitioners of all levels. She encourages students to focus on a steady progression of executing each pose while emphasizing ahimsa (non-harming attitudes and behaviors), non-competitiveness and compassion, particularly towards oneself. In addition to teaching classes at Café of Life, Vanya is a pre-natal yoga instructor at Kashi Atlanta.
Ben Johnstone
Ben first practiced yoga in 2003. In 2010 he completed the 200 hour Hatha Yoga teacher's training at Nirvana Yoga with Leigh Anne Neal. As a Grant Park resident Ben loves the opportunity to practice with friends and neighbors and to share in their lives on and off the mat.
Lucy Curtis
Lucy Curtis was thrilled to complete her 200 hour yoga teacher training in 2008 at Nirvana Yoga and was certified to teach children's yoga from award-winning YogaKids International in 2010. She has since garnered training in pre-and post-natal yoga, yoga therapeutics, and yoga for people with special needs, and has launched a unique kid's yoga and art program called Art and Action with her talented friend, Amanda McGee. Whether teaching sweaty vinyasa or tranquil restorative, children, teens or adults, Lucy can't think of anything better than sharing her love of yoga, and has a blast teaching at various studios and schools around Atlanta. With the belief that yoga has the power to transform the practitioner into a more whole, healthy, and harmonious, truer version of him or herself, Lucy's classes are creative, encouraging and fun. When not practicing yoga, Lucy enjoys reading, engaging in record player dance parties, and watching crazy cats on Youtube.
